Bradley's Blessing Day

I'm so glad that Andrew and Kelly were able to bless Bradley here in CA instead of Utah so I was able to be a part of such a special day.

We had most of Andrew's family and all of our family except Steve and Anna here for Bradley's blessing day.  It was so much fun spending time with family and getting to know Andrew's family even more.  My sister really did marry into a great family who I really enjoy spending time with.  I hope one day I'm as lucky as she is!

Wrestling Match

If you know my family at all, you know that it is filled with competitiveness.  The Wards cannot get together without some type of competition.  If there isn't a competition the night is just not complete.

My Uncle Dave and his family came down to CA for a week of skiing and then week of hanging out with the family.  One night after dinner a wrestling match broke out in the living room.  My Uncle's oldest son, Tyler, is wrestling for his HS so of course dad had to wrestle him, then Uncle Dave wrestled him and then it was time for my dad and my Uncle to wrestle.  These two are hilarious together.  I have about 6 other videos of the other matches, but I love how this one starts out with each of them doing a little dance.

I just love family get togethers!  There is just nothing like them!

Dinner at Station 165

For Christmas this year my Ward did an Auction to raise money to help out all the missionaries in our Ward.  At the time of Christmas we had 8 missionaries out and we have at least 4 more going out soon. One of the auctions I won was a dinner for me and 3 of my friends at a fire station with my friend Aaron, who is a fire fighter in Huntington Park.

Never did I imagine how much fun I was going to have having dinner, getting a tour of the station, and going on a ride in the truck.  I was really hoping they were going to get called out so that I could go on a ride along, but unfortunately it was a quiet night.

Below are a few pictures of the night.  I wish I would have gotten a picture of the dinner because it was AMAZING!!  I don't know how firemen stay in such awesome shape with the great dinners that they have.

Thanks again Aaron for such a great night!!

What To Do?

***Sorry this post is kind of all over the place.  It's almost 1am and my mind is about as full as it can be.

My mind lately has been nonstop.  I don't know if its 30 hitting me, the New Year, or something else, but my mind has been going a million miles a minute.

When I was younger I had my whole life planned out.  After HS I was going to go to school to get degree in Special Education and minor in Photography, I was going to marry my best friend by the time I was 22, we would enjoy each other and get settled for a year and then start having kids, we'd have four kids by the time I was 30 or 31, I would be a stay at home mom and maybe do photography on the side, and we'd live happily ever after.  My HS friends and I would talk about this, and they always said "Lindsay is going to be the first married."  They are all now married with kids.  We'll as we all can see, my plan and the plan that my life was actually supposed to take are completely different.  Very different!

I've had a lot of conversations with people lately about dating, not dating, meeting new people, marriage, etc.  A lot of the conversations have been how we don't date, how we're not sure how to meet new people and how we're all ready for the next step in our lives.

I have been very lucky and have had amazing Bishoprics in my life the last couple of years. I've been really close with my two Bishops previously in Utah and I am now close to my current Bishop.  My current Bishopric is also amazing and they truly care about us and our well being.  After church today, one of the members of the Bishopric came to talk to me just to see how I was doing.  He always asks if I have interest in anyone, if I'm dating, etc.  I told him today that its been on my mind a lot lately, but nothing has changed and that I'm not dating.  I told him my concerns with how I feel like I've hit a wall with meeting people.  He asked me if I was attending all the activities and if I had tried online dating.  My answer to both questions was yes.  He then asked me if I saw any potential in the Ward or planned on marrying someone a lot younger than me (most of the guys in my Ward, as of this week are a lot younger than I am.  The other guys my age are now in the Midsingles Ward).  My answer to both of those were no. He then told me that maybe the YSA Ward wasn't the place for me and to maybe look into either the Midsingles Ward or my family Ward. He said I need to put myself out there and meet new people.  His response honestly shocked me!  I never thought I'd be thinking about that until I was 31.

After my conversation with the Bishopric member today, it really got me thinking about other Wards. Meeting new people and how to meet them has been one of the top things on my mind.  I have been trying to come up with different ways to put myself out there and also for my friends to meet other people as well.  I then told a few girls that we were going to plan parties at least once a month and invite anyone and everyone in the area to get to know more people. I don't know what else to do in my life, but I am determined to meet people, date and hopefully one day, sooner than later, get married for Time and All Eternity! Party #1 has been planned and so far 95 people have been invited.  Now what to do about what Ward to go to??

Maui

Since this year was my big 3-0, I wanted to do something fun for my birthday.  The first plan was to go to Costa Rica, but there were a few hiccups with that plan, so we're going to go next year.  After looking at a few places, we decided to do Maui.  Maui was a perfect decision for our trip.  It was fun, relaxing, and just what I needed.  Since I'm single, I just might have to take a fun trip every year until I find Prince Charming :)

Family

A few weeks ago we had a lesson in church about family and the importance of the family.  I know I have written blogs before about how much I love my family, but I don't think I could ever say it enough.  I LOVE my family, I'm so grateful for all of them, grateful for the relationships we all have with each other, and I'm incredibly grateful to have such amazing examples as parents.

Las Vegas Ragnar Relay

I was lucky enough to be on a Las Vegas Ragnar team, which was by far the hardest and coldest Ragnar I've ever done.  My first leg was in 30-40 mile an hour winds with 58 mph gusts of wind.  I felt like I was running my heart out and going nowhere. My second leg was much better, it was just really cold.  My third leg, I wanted to shoot myself because I was running switchbacks, which I was not expecting...and if you know me, I'd rather run 10 flat miles than 1 mile of hills.  I don't know why, but I HATE hills!!
This race was my first Ragnar with my mom, sister and cousin in the same van.  We've been on the same team before, but not in the same van. I had so much fun being with them, encouraging each other, and will never forget the laughs we all had together.
