Mountain Biking Adventure

Tonight I tried something new and really had a great time! My cousin Doug and I went mountain biking up Sundance today and I wasn't exactly sure what to expect. I was thinking, 'Ride up the ski lift and bike down the mountain..How hard can that be?' Boy was I in for a shock!! We started down a VERY rocky hill and I was sliding everywhere! I almost ate it several times in about 50 feet. I didn't though, so I was very happy!! At this point I wasn't sure how I was feeling about mountain biking and couldn't understand why this was fun. As we got going and got past the rocky part I was really starting to love the adventure. Don't worry though, we were only riding about 15 minutes before I biffed it :) I went around a corner, went off the trail and when I was trying to get back on the trail the terrain was really loose and I fell. I don't know why it was so funny to me, but it was, and I could not stop laughing. My cousin heard me yell and came rushing back to me to see if I was ok, and I couldn't stop laughing to answer him. :) We probably went about 20 more minutes before I basically biffed it again. This was not my ride! Ok I really cant say much because it was my first ride ever, but out of all the rides today this one was for sure not it! After the first ride I was talking to my friend Curtis who gave me some excellent tips. On the second ride down I made sure to do what he told me and the ride went so much better! I went faster, rode better and didn't fall once! Thanks Curtis! :) Doug and I really had a great time and I'm really glad that he introduced me to mountain biking. We had so much fun that we might even go again this weekend :) Anyone else want to join us?

Glance at the past few days

This week has been so much fun!! Monday night I was able to see my cousins Jan and Jake, who I love to death! After dropping them off in Ogden I went hiking with my friends Kimber and Daniel, which was awesome. We did a trail that I had never done before and it was a ton of fun! Yesterday night Daniel called me, and a few of us went up Provo Canyon and made tin foil dinners. Something that I would have never thought of unless I was camping, so props to the brain on that one! :) Tonight I went hiking again with Kimber and Kallie and we had a blast!! We hiked up to a little cave and then did the main trail up Rock Canyon. Considering they both don't enjoy hiking as much as I do, I think we all had a great time!! Kimber is now starting to enjoy hiking, which I love! I will always have a hiking buddy around now! :) Here are a few pictures from this week.

My New Position

There has been talk in the last week about making me Program Coordinator for the whole office and not just the archaeologists anymore. As of today its official! They announced it this morning and I am now the Program Coordinator over the archaeologists, biologists, geologists, paleontologists and planners! This will probably keep me pretty busy, which I will enjoy! I don’t know if this really is a promotion, probably more of a lateral move but I’m pretty excited!

AUBREY LYNN NUNNALLY
My sister isn't even out of the doctor yet and I'm so excited I had to post something! I just got a text from my mom saying that they are 90% sure that Kelly and Andrew are having a girl! The text said "The baby was in a breach position and lying on its belly so we didn't get as good of a look as the tech would have liked" but they are 90% its a girl!!! Congratulations Kelly and Andrew!

Hiking Rock Canyon

This weekend a lot of plans were set and then cancelled, then they were up in the air and finally on Saturday I decided to call Doug and Heather to see if they wanted to go on a hike with me. I've had the hiking itch for a while now, since I haven't been in about a month, and Doug and Heather were willing to go with me! THANK YOU DOUG AND HEATHER!! :) The hike was a ton of fun and I couldn't have asked for a better day! I've never done a hike with kids, and it made it that much better! Elizabeth was really excited and on the way to Rock Canyon she kept telling me that she was going hiking. When we got there she started running up the trail with her little chicken wings and it cracked me up! I need to get a picture of her running because its hilarious! The hike up through Rock Canyon is beautiful!! There are lots of rocks to climb and the view is amazing. I've done this hike a few times and one thing that I've never noticed, which Heather noticed this time is that there is a log with a plaque on it, and its Poohs Thinking Log. We tried to get Elizabeth to think like Pooh and get a picture, but she wasn't wanting to take pictures right then, so we got Heather :) Elizabeth was more than willing to take pictures not too long after as long as she said "Chucky Cheese" Here are a few more pictures from the hike. Thanks again Doug and Heather for going with me! It was a lot of fun and we should do it more ;) And of course anyone else who has the hiking itch, call me! I'm ALWAYS up for hike!

Dating

I wasn't sure if I was going to really post this, but why not?! Today my Bishop combined Relief Society and Priesthood, which usually means there is a serious talk coming...well that's what we assume. My friend Daniel and I were taking bets at what todays lesson would be on. We were both wrong. We were both thinking a little more serious. My Bishop starts off with a hilarious story that his daughter posted on their family website about how her boyfriend 5.0 turned into Husband 1.0. I wish I had a copy of the story because it was pretty funny! Anyway, the lesson was on dating. HELLO?! Why didn't we think of that?! We're in a Singles Ward! :) The Bishop was talking to us about how we know when its the right person and the qualities we should look for in the right person. Right then I was expecting him to say all the normal church answers like spirituality and someone worthy, but he surprised me with "someone who is your best friend, someone you can communicate with and have fun with" Then I think this part of the lesson might have been just for me :) Maybe something I'm guilty of and I didn't really realize it until today. He said that some of us are looking for someone that we know we can have a lot of fun with, but those people don't necessarily have the qualities of a husband. WOW! That hit me hard! I don't know if I've really been "looking" for someone with the wakeboarding, scuba diving, hiking, camping, bungee jumping qualities, but these are things that I really enjoy doing so I've always thought those would be fun things to do with a husband. All of this also made me think of a date that I went on not too long ago. We started talking about things that I liked to do and what he liked to do and none of our interests were the same. Now looking back at that date, which yes I did have fun and we did go out again, but maybe I should have taken more time to look at the other qualities that he had. I think the guy is great no matter what though! I'm not going to not date someone because we have different interests, but I always thought/hoped I'd date/marry someone with a lot of the same interests as me. So today kind of hit me hard and made start thinking about what things I really need to look for when I start dating someone. Oh, and don't worry, the Bishop did talk about the spiritual aspects also...for those of you who were wondering :)

Ancestors

My mom is in the Young Women's Presidency in her Ward, so this week she was up here for her Stakes Youth Conference. I love it when she is here! I didn't get to see her much since she was so busy with Youth Conference, but both her and Mady were able to sneak away the last day to have dinner with some family before I took them to the airport. After having a really fun dinner together we decided to go up to the Salt Lake Cemetery to see my Great Great Great Great Grandfather, Wilford Woodruff's grave. It was great being up there and learning more about my ancestors. The stories I hear and the trials that they had to go through are amazing!! They make my life trials seem so simple! I honestly don't know how they did it! I don't know if I would have the strength to endure what they did!
While we were at the cemetery we also stopped by President Hinkley's grave which is just up the hill from Wilford Woodruffs. President Hinkley was an amazing man and example to all!! I loved him to death and loved hearing him speak. Him and his wife were both so funny!
I'm so glad that we had the time to go up to the cemetery before Mom and Mady had to leave!

Keep on Trekking

As some as you know I've been trying to loose weight for a few months now. The first 17 weeks were pretty easy for me and I couldn't wait to weigh in every week to find out how much more I had lost.  In the first 17 weeks I lost 25 pounds and never felt better!  I was working out every day, going on at least 1 or 2 hikes a week at minimum, training for a 5K (until I did damage to my neck), and I was doing things that I really enjoy that I haven't done in a long time.  It felt AWESOME!!   After that 17 week mark things started getting harder for me in more than one way.  I started traveling for work, I was taking a lot of vacations, I never seemed to be home and eating out became really easy to do because it was fast.  I didn't really gain weight after the 17 weeks, but my weight loss has slowed down significantly.  It is time to get back on track and lose 25 more!!  I was talking to a friend the other day about how things have gotten a little harder for me lately and in talking to her she seriously has become my inspiration and my motivator.  She always has been, from the day that I met her, but this time she struck a cord really hard!!  She has lost a lot of weight and looks FANTASTIC!  She has really motivated me and I can't thank her enough for it!  I just wish we lived closer to each other!!   Another motivator for me, is looking at pictures of myself  in January and then looking at pictures of me now.  The pictures really have been eye openers to me!!  So for those of you that are also trying to loose weight, keep on trekking!!  We can all do it together!!  We can all be each others motivators!!  There's nothing like doing it together!  In my opinion, it makes it so much easier! Here are a few pictures of me in January and then pictures of me recently.

Washington

This past weekend I was able to spend time with a lot of family and I LOVED it! There's nothing like being with family!! On Thursday I flew to Washington to visit my Aunt Kathy. She is only 4 years older than me, so we've grown up being really close to each other. She's like the older sister I never had. I was so excited to spend time with Kathy and her family because its been a long time since we've been able to see each other. Kathy picked me up from the airport on Thursday morning and we did Downtown Seattle for a few hours. First we went to the Space Needle, and in all of my years going to Washington, that is one place I've never been. It was fun just to walk around and then try and get a picture of the two of us in front of the Space Needle. The first lady we asked didn't take the picture (she thought she did though), then we asked another lady and she was late to something so she said no, and then there was no one around so we gave up. We got in the car, started driving away and then Kathy rolled down her window and asked a lady that was crossing the street to take a picture of us. I was cracking up! I'm sure the lady thought we were insane! After seeing the Space Needle, a really cool water fountain, a weird museum and the IMAX we went to Pikes Public Market. Pikes was a lot of fun! We walked through the whole market taste testing all the fruit, nuts, breads, jellies, and chocolate noodles. I don't think I've ever had such amazing fruit and I found my new favorite jelly! The flowers at the Pike were also amazing and they were so cheap. Kathy was so excited about them it was cracking me up!! We walked through the whole market before going back and picking up some of Kathy's favorite bouquets. They seriously were amazing and she only paid $5.00. You cant beat that!! After walking the whole market Kathy took me to her favorite place to eat lunch. I have officially tried Turkish food and really enjoyed it! We went to a little place called Turkish Delight and the food was excellent!
While we were walking around Downtown we were able to see the Blue Angels practicing before their shows on Saturday and Sunday. I LOVE watching airshows so it was a lot of fun to watch them fly over. The Blue Angels had one more practice day before the show, so we decided to go watch them practice the next day. We left a few hours before the show and we were able to get amazing seats! We actually ended up at a little beach and the girls loved it. We watched the hydroplane boats practice for a while, which was amazing! I've never seen anything like it before. The boats literally fly across the water! After the hydroplane boats were done practicing the Airshow began. I could have watched these planes fly forever! They got so close to each other and did amazing tricks! I took TONS of pictures, but I will spare you and just post a few :) Thanks so much for all the fun Kathy!! I couldn't have asked for a better weekend!
